Multi-layered and a shade deeper and richer than the Sonoma County Pinot Noir, enticing aromas of dried cherry, ripe strawberry and vanilla bean anticipate lush, concentrated red-fruit flavors infused with ginger, a bit of subtle smoke and mushroom. Silky smooth with a long, satisfying finish.

Pinot Noir is one of the most food-friendly wines around, so these suggestions are just the beginning.

Poultry: Smoked turkey, roasted duck and other game birds
Meats: Roast pork loin with cherries, grilled lamb chops, pan-seared veal
Warmly spiced dishes: Cioppino, paella
Seafood: Grilled salmon, swordfish with Pinot Noir reduction and other “steaky” fish

about the appellation

Russian River AVA
If there was only one word you could use to describe the key influence on the regional growing conditions it would certainly be “fog.”

The vines soak up the afternoon sun, which brings the grapes along, gradually, toward maturity. They spend their mornings and evenings under a cool veil of coastal fog, which rolls in from the Pacific ocean, just a few miles away. The persistent daily fog keeps the natural acidity bright and extends the growing season, often by as much as 15 -20% over neighboring regions, giving the grapes the all-important hang-time they need to develop peak flavor maturity.

The region has a global reputation as a source of excellent fruit quality for many varieties but, most notably, for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, which are their most expressive when grown in cool-climate situations.
