Where is your winery?
Our wines are currently made in Healdsburg, California, along the Russian River in Sonoma County. We invite you to visit us at our tasting room in Tiburon, CA, which is our founding location.
How long does delivery take?
We normally ship by UPS or other private carriers. Delivery takes between two and three weeks depending on the time of year and the complexity of the order. We have been in business for over 40 years and we have been delivering wine for at least 20 years without major difficulties with our carriers. We are confident you will receive your order satisfactorily and in a timely manner.
Why does it take 2-3 weeks for delivery?
Each and every bottle is labeled and packed to each customer's specifications. Our fulfillment process is designed so that any order -- no matter how large or small -- can be personalized by the customer. This process entails the printing and application of each wine label, one at a time, by hand, for every bottle of wine that we sell. We have five different quality control locations to ensure the accuracy of these efforts. The process takes time -- but we feel that the assurance of quality and satisfaction is worth it.
Can you get my wine to me faster if I pay extra?
Yes, in most states. Call your Personal Wine Consutant or Customer Service at 800-289-9463.
Where can you ship?
Click here for states to which we can ship, quantity limitations and estimated shipping rates.
Why can't you ship to other states?
Since the repeal of prohibition, the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages have been regulated by individual states. Each state has its own laws. Rarely do they coincide, and even more rarely do they allow an out-of-state company to sell wine without maintaining a license and inventory in their state. We have not been able to find a way to ship Windsor wines with the same personal attention, quality control and attractive pricing through normal distribution networks.
How can I pay for my wine?
We accept all major credit cards and personal checks.
Does your wine contain sulfites?
The term "contains sulfites" refers to the use of sulfur dioxide (SO2) employed as both a preservative and disinfectant in winemaking. SO2 is added in very low concentrations and without it the stability of wine could be jeopardized. Sweet wines need more SO2 than drier wines in order to inhibit possible bottle fermentation. It is virtually impossible to have SO2 free wine, as this naturally occurring chemical is one of the by-products of fermentation, including that which takes place in the making of bread and fruit juice.
What is your best wine?
There is no single answer for such a subjective question. Many of our wines have been awarded gold medals in a variety of categories. Windsor produces three levels of wine. Our Platinum Series is our ultra-premium product line and and Windsor Vineyards' "best quality". This is determined by a number of factors, including grape sources, barrel treatments and wine complexity, among others. Our Private Reserve wines are super "premium wines", and classic wines are considered "premium wines". All three tiers of wine are made by the same state-of-the-art facility, and all are high-quality enjoyable wines. Because ultimately, we feel that a good wine is the one you like to drink, we encourage you to taste wines from all of our tiers, and judge for yourself!
When should I drink my wine?
This schedule provides a rule of thumb for aging, counting from the vintage date of the wine. Remember, if properly stored, some wines may keep longer. If you purchase wine with the intent of cellaring it, be sure to taste it periodically to see if it is improving to your satisfaction. . . wine is a living, changing, product in the bottle, and besides, it gives you an excuse to taste!
