About Napa Valley
Grown in the Napa Valley from our Applebone Vineyard at Clos Pegase in Calistoga, California. The vines were planted in 2000 in the rich, fertile Calistoga Valley floor where Cabernet grapes thrive and flourish. The Applebone Vineyard consists of 4 acres of vines devoted to Cabernet Sauvignon because of that variety’s affinity to the gravely Bale loam that makes up the soil. One particular clone is used exclusively, the French Dijon Clone 191. This clone ensures small and concentrated fruit that is high quality and unique. High density plantings along with rootstock selection 420A help to limit the vigor and keep the vines in balance. The grapes are hand picked in the cool night air and crushed immediately. This Calistoga environment provides an ideal location to produce world class Napa Valley Cabernet.
